Plumeria, Champa Plant, Frangipani, Magnolia
Plumeria is one of the most popular trees in India for its beautiful flowers and fragrance. The palette of their smells covers lots of nuances: soft, fruity, peachy, and creamy. Some plumerias smell sweet or spicy, others smell like jasmine, peaches or citrus. Most people are familiar with the scent of Frangipani, a plant typically associated with Southeast Asia. Sometimes confused with Jasmine, Frangipani’s fragrance is decadently sweet, floral, and evocative of other tropical scents such as coconut.
These tropical flowers grow in full sun and partial shade but prosper in abundant sunshine for at least six hours per day. The typical Champa Plant species is a small semi dwarf tree 3.5m tall x 2.5m wide with long thin strap like foliage. The small flowers of Magnolia have the highest essential oil content and strongest perfume of all Frangipanis and is used exclusively for perfume production.
