Schefflera Variegated
Dwarf Umbrella Tree
Schefflera Variegated or Dwarf Umbrella Tree is not difficult to grow, providing you supply plenty of indirect sun light, warmth and humidity. It’s a very popular plant for home because it is not only attractive but also has a high tolerance of neglect and poor growing conditions. This plant can be pruned in order to control its height and shape and it likes medium to high light levels. The plant is characterised by its decorative, hand-shaped leaves and a compact growing habit.
Scheffleras are very popular houseplants that produce big dark or variegated palmate leaves. The leaves are made up of several smaller leaflets growing out of a single point.
Place the plant in a bright, indirect light position. In the summer, it can be moved outside in a shady position. They appreciate lots of humidity and will thrive in well drained soil. Water when top soil is dry to touch and never allow it to sit in water in the saucer. If temperature drops below 16 degrees Celsius they may experience some problems. Do not expose to droughts or dry heating vents. Use some house plant fertilizer after 6-8 weeks. Transplant it to bigger pot when needed and ensure a good drainage system.
