Scindapsus Pictus
'Exotica'
A classic vining houseplant, Silver Pothos or The Satin Pothos is well known for being easy to maintain with visually pleasing variegation. Sometimes the spacklings can get so intense that the leaves become completely silver which looks even more beautiful.
There are two different types of Scindapsus Pictus. One is Scindapsus Pictus ‘Argyraeus‘, commonly known as Silvery Ann and another is Scindapsus Pictus ‘Exotica‘, also called Silver Pothos. People get very easily confused between which one is which. The Exotica usually has larger leaves and more silver speckling than the Argyraeus.
Growing to 3 m tall in open ground, it is an evergreen climber. The Satin Pothos even made the top 10 in the NASA Clean Air Study conducted into air purifying houseplants, as it removes the harmful substances present in virtually all households, offices and schools.
The pictus is able to neutralise these harmful gases by absorbing them and breaking them down. The air humidity is improved by their regulating evaporation process. As they effectively convert CO² into oxygen, the air becomes healthier.
