Portulacaria Afra
Good Luck Jade Plant
Portulacaria Afra, native to Africa is one of the popular houseplants. Considered to be symbols of good luck, it is also called the Good Luck Jade Plant, Lucky Plant, Money Tree, Friendship Tree.
It can grow up to 2 meters in height and can be controlled with proper trimming and shaping. The Elephant Bush name comes from the fact that it serves as food for elephants in its native environment. It can withstand long drought and heat waves but doesn’t flower during cultivation. It is not a flowering plant at all, hence it doesn’t exhibit the white and pink flowers during winter unlike its relative species.
It is a small-leaved succulent plant found in South Africa. These succulents commonly have a reddish stem and leaves that are green, but also a variegated cultivar is often seen in cultivation. They are simple to care for and make easy houseplants for a sunny location.
People always get confused over the jade plants as they look different in different places. It is not a specific plant but a collection of plants which are considered to be lucky.
