Monstera Standleyana Aurea Variegata
Monstera Standleyana Aurea Variegata is a rare exotic Aroid climber. The plant does pretty well in both indoor and outdoor environments. The dark green elongated leaves have stripped and speckled yellow variegation. This is a good choice for pots and hanging baskets. This plant is a fast grower and will happily climb upwards, and grow as a vine on a totem, which maximises its appearance and growth habit or a beautiful as a hanging plant.
The deep green leaves of Monstera Standleyana Aurea Variegata have speckles, splashes and broad bands of beautiful variegation, with no two leaves having the same look. All parts of the vine can get variegated, including the shoots, and the intensity of the variegation can vary according to the conditions the plant is growing in.
Due to the close resemblance, this plant is sometimes mistakenly called a Philodendron or Philodendron Cobra, both of which have no scientific authentication. As a tropical plant, it will do well in our climate, ideal for both beginners as well as serious collectors.
Monstera Standleyana Aurea Variegata is easy to care for so long as it has moist, warm conditions and does appreciate light and high humidity. The plant has a vining habit and often grows entwined in and around itself, with new leaves and vines sometimes growing through the holes in existing leaves. This can lead to leaves tearing which gives the plant a shabby chic rather that pristine appeal.
Place the Monstera in a semi shady or light spot, in filtered sunlight. Make sure the potting soil is always mildly moist, but not wet. It’s best to water the plant regularly, and to give small amount of water each time, just enough to moisten the potting soil. We also recommend regularly misting the leaves to maintain a high humidity.
