Philodendron Billietiae
The beautiful elongated leaves of Philodendron Billietiae are leathery with wavy edges. A deep groove runs down the length of the leaf which adds some texture and definition which adds to its modern look. The branching habit of the foliage creates a space-filling display that will be a fantastic focal point or feature to a room. The large angular dark green leaves droop gracefully from a central stem.
The simple, but bold colours of this plant would accent most design schemes but work particularly well in a minimalist or Scandinavian themed room. A leaf can grow quite large, it is even possible to reach an impressive length of 90 cm! In nature, leaf size varies and some specimens produce leaves that are often excessively long and narrow.
Philodendron Billietiae are easy tropical plants that require little care. They thrive in moist soils and grow best when provided with a pole that is mossed or wrapped in burlap, to climb against. It likes a well-drained but moist, rich organic mix. Do not use potting soil or dry sandy soil. To help your new Philodendron grow, fertilisation is needed. Without fertilisation, they will grow very slowly.
This ease to care for plant is one of the most popular houseplants. In tropical regions it can survive outside, however in most places it is used strictly as a houseplant. While blooms on this fast-growing climber may appear at any time during the year most plants in confinement never bloom. The Philodendron is an evergreen vine that thrives in partial shade at moderate temperatures.
