Philodendron Xanadu Green
Philodendron Bipinnatifidum Winterbourn
Philodendron Bipinnatifidum Winterbourn is commonly known as Philodendron Xanadu Green or cut-leaf philodendron. It is a compact, low maintenance choice for homes and offices, that will help purify your air. It is a good looking plant, with shiny green, leathery leaves, each with multiple lobes. Unlike other philodendron, this is not a climber, instead it grows in a mounded shape on a thick woody stem, often becoming wider than it is tall.
Houseplants can be temperamental at times, but not this Winterbourn Philodendron. Give it ample indirect light, water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry, and it should be a happy camper. It might be happier away from the heat vents, as Winterbourn prefers a bit more humidity, and though it can grow in rooms with lower light, it may get leggy or not grow at all. At maturity, this philodendron can top out around 4 feet tall and up to 5 feet wide, so give Winterbourn its own pot for a lush tropical specimen sized plant.
This ease to care for plant is one of the most popular houseplants. In tropical regions it can survive outside, however in most places it is used strictly as a houseplant. The Thaumatophyllum is an evergreen species that thrives in partial shade at moderate temperatures.
You should know that these plants are not considered Philodendrons anymore. It’s true! Since 2018, these and a few other similar former-Philodendrons were reclassified into a new genus called Thaumatophyllum, a name which roughly translates to ‘Wonder Leaf’.
