Red Fittonia Albivenis
Nerve Plant
Mosaic Plant
The common name of Red Fittonia Albivenis is the Nerve Plant or Mosaic Plant. Leaves are the main attractive feature of this plant. With deep-green leaves and a lace like pattern of veins in bright white, it adds colour and texture to a room. It’s recommended to water this plant right as the soil dries. Although it is a houseplant, it can occasionally bloom, but is unlikely. This variety also prefers low to medium sun, but can handle full sun if it is filtered in some way. It’s small size and contrasting colours will bring the jungle right into your home!
Keep the soil moist, but never soggy. In nature they grow as a ground cover, so expect to to grow outwards and vine, rather than growing tall.
Fittonia is a genus of flowering plants in the acanthus family Acanthaceae, native to tropical rainforest in South America, mainly Peru. The most commonly grown are Fittonia Albivenis and its cultivars. They are spreading evergreen perennials growing 10–15 cm tall.
