Yucca Silver Star
Yucca Silver Star produces a sturdy trunk and bears a rosette of dark green, sword shaped leaves with finely serrated margins. The leaves are variegated and brightly coloured green, with contrasting silver margins. Yucca Elephantipes or Yucca Silver Star can be used as a popular landscaping choice for its striking looks and also a good accent or feature plant in either pots or containers.
It is popularly used for tropical garden settings, poolside planting for screening and feature planting. It is suited to containers and indoor gardens in cooler climates.
It is hardy and has low water needs, and is a very easy care plant with few pests or diseases. Plant it in an area of full sun to part shade, with well drained soil. Yucca Silver Star is drought tolerant as it has low water requirements once established, making it low maintenance. The plant can be cut back hard to encourage branching. Remove spent foliage and fertilise annually with a long term slow release fertiliser. Yucca Gigantea can grow to a height of 9 metres and a width of 4 metres.
Yucca Gigantea is a species of flowering plant in the asparagus family, native to Mexico and Central America. Growing up to 8–12 m in height, it is an evergreen shrub which is widely cultivated as an ornamental garden or house plant often being called just yucca cane.
Dos and Don’ts after receiving the plant
- Do not re-pot the plant immediately after receiving. We’ve taken care of that with better pot and rich soil.
- Keep the plant in indirect sunlight for 3 to 7 days.
- Always check the soil moisture and keep the plant hydrated all time. Do not over water it.
