Anthurium Peltigerum is a highly rare plant. Also known as the Turtle Shell Anthurium, is a fast growing plant with oval leaves and peltate leaf insertions. This unusual Anthurium species is a must have for the plant lover with an eye for something special! The leaves look just like shields! Most Anthuriums have an open top side, with lobes, this pretty species has a closed top, which is where that shield look comes from. The nerves make a pretty addition to the overall look.

Juvenile leaves start with a fresh green colour, as they mature the colour darkens and the texture becomes velvety. Due to these looks, the Anthurium Peltigerum really distincts itself from its family members and makes it an important addition to any aroid collection. It’s native to Colombia and Ecuador, and can be found in premontane rainforests and wet forests at elevations of 425 to 2100 meters.

Like other Anthuriums it also doesn’t like direct sunlight and the leaves can be burned. Keep in bright indirect light and well draining media. It doesn’t need much care but while doing so always think about the Amazon rain forest. This plant requires a lot of humidity to grow well. That’s why it is better to place this plant with other indoor plants.
