Why you'll love this
Rabbit Foot Fern produces furry silvery rhizomes that grow outside of the pot and cascade over the side.
Rabbit foot fern
The Davallia Fern is also known as the Rabbits Foot Fern due to the cute furry rhizomes that creep over the edge of the pot. It is also known as Humata Tyermannii, White Rabbit’s Foot, Silver Hare’s Foot and Bears Paw Fern.
Humata Tyermannii has fine, delicate fronds of deep green, although new growth may start life with a bronze flush. A lucky fern that looks great in a hanging basket showing off all its glorious features.
Elegant, lacy fronds create a lush mound of evergreen foliage. The main attraction of this plant, however, are the furry rhizomes that hang over the side of the container. These light-brown, creeping rhizomes are covered with hairs that look like a rabbit’s foot.
Although most types of ferns require high humidity, Rabbit Foot Fern is much easier to please as indoor ferns. This houseplant will thrive with indirect light and average room temperatures. Water the plant lightly but often to keep the top of the soil moist. Give liquid nutrients during growing season. Be careful not to bury the ‘rabbits feet’ under the soil.
