Tillandsia Ionantha Vanhyningii is a rare and the most sought-after variety of the popular Ionantha family. It’s a hardy, coalescent, very light green air plant that blushes a pink to coral colour when grown in bright light. Its short thick leaves grow in a star-like pattern off a long “branch-like” body which, in the air plant world, is known as Caulescent.

Plants are unique! The images are meant to give you an idea of the specification and quality of the plant you will receive, but will not be an exact replica — blooming depends on season and care.
Tillandsia Ionantha Vanhyningii is a rare caulescent species from Mexico, where it covers the canyon walls in some places, by the thousands. This is a beautiful plant that is a must have for any Ionantha collection. This plant has the thickest leaves of any Ionantha species, on a 3 to 6 inch stem and blushes a peach colour when in bloom and forms large cascading clusters. The plant grows with a long stem that forms many adventitious offsets which can be removed and grown or left to form a large cluster. Very easy to grow, bright and airy.
If you want to grow air plants indoors and the air is dry, you will need to mist it frequently and keep it near a window where the air flows.
The air plants are unusual, in that they can grow on almost anything without the need for soil. The Tillandsia, AKA air plant, is native to Mexico, Costa Rica, Central America and parts of South America, and has become a popular ornamental plant throughout the world. The small air plant produces a colourful array of shoots, ranging from pink to blue to purple. While these plants appear difficult to grow due to their unusual characteristics, air plants are very hardy and air plant care is simple. In fact, you mostly just need to mist the air plant occasionally.
