Tradescantia Zebrina
Wandering Jew
The Tradescantia Zebrina, more commonly known as the Wandering Jew, is an indoor plant that has some lovely, expressive foliage of mainly dark green and silver-white striped colouring on top, with a deep purple underside of each leaf. This evergreen perennial is an easy and fast-growing plant that is loved for its boldly colored leaves and vining growth.
Used as a hanging or trailing indoor plant, the common name of Wandering Jew is derived from the its ability to easily root and thrive in different environments. It is part of the Spiderwort family and is also known as Zebrina Pendula or the Inch Plant.
Although tender, these plants make fantastic houseplants and thrive in both full sun and partial shade.
Tradescantia is generally very easy to care and also one of those beautiful air purifiers. Most of the air purifying plants prefers shade, but Tradescantia can do well in both shade and sun. The colour of the foliage changes and becomes purple under direct sunlight. Cuttings can root very easily in water.
